Install Apps from Other Countries Without Switching Your iPhone Account

Last updated: · StoreDuo

With a Mac, StoreDuo and your own Apple ID for the relevant country, you can download apps from another country's App Store and install them on an iPhone or iPad without switching the App Store account on your phone. This guide covers account setup, downloading, device trust, installation and future updates.

What you need before starting

Search and browsing are free; downloading and installing require membership. Standard prices are $29.90/year or $69 lifetime (USD). The launch offer runs from Oct 19, 2026 at 00:00 to Apr 19, 2027 at 23:59, Beijing time (UTC+8), for everyone with no invite code: $11.96 for the first year, then $29.90/year on automatic renewal, or $27.60 lifetime. Discounted orders must be created before 23:29 and paid before 23:59 on the final day; new purchases then return to standard prices. Cancel annual renewal anytime.

StoreDuo includes device connectivity on the Mac, so this workflow needs no separate Xcode or command-line developer tools. Use a cable for your first installation. Wireless connections work only when the device is already paired and discoverable by the Mac over the network; joining the same Wi-Fi does not complete pairing.

Understand the two accounts

Your StoreDuo account handles sign-in, membership and payment. Your Apple ID (Apple Account) gives you access to a country's App Store and the app's download license. Buying StoreDuo membership does not create an Apple ID or change an Apple account's country.

An iPhone can use different accounts for iCloud and Media & Purchases, as Apple's documentation explains. StoreDuo lets you manage your store accounts within the Mac app, reducing repeated App Store sign-ins on your phone. See Apple's explanation of iCloud and purchase accounts.

This guide assumes you already have a working account for the target country. If you need to change an Apple account's country, read Apple's country-change requirements first, including requirements for balances, subscriptions and payment methods.

Step 1: Download and open StoreDuo

  1. Download the Mac app from the official StoreDuo download link.
  2. Unzip the download, drag StoreDuo into your Mac's Applications folder, and open it.
  3. Open the StoreDuo Account section in the app's Settings and sign in with the account you used to purchase membership. Confirm your membership before downloading. You can also add an Apple ID first and search for your target app for free.

If you have paid but still see a membership prompt, check that the StoreDuo email signed in to the app matches the one used for your purchase. This check concerns your StoreDuo account, so changing your Apple ID will not resolve it.

Step 2: Add your Apple ID for that country

  1. Open Accounts in the sidebar and click Add Account.
  2. Enter your own Apple ID email and password, then click Authenticate.
  3. If Apple requests two-factor authentication, approve the sign-in on your trusted device and enter the requested code.
  4. After sign-in succeeds, check the account's store country. Add another personal account when you need another country's store.

The country comes from the Apple account's store settings. Choosing US or JP switches the store and account used inside StoreDuo; it does not convert a US account into a Japanese account. You can switch between added countries while their sessions remain valid. Expired sessions or Apple security checks may require another sign-in or verification code.

Step 3: Find an app and download it to your Mac

  1. Open Search, choose the target country, and select the iPhone or iPad platform.
  2. Search by app name. Open a result and check its developer, icon, compatibility and price to distinguish apps with similar names.
  3. Under Select Account, confirm the Apple ID you want to use, then click Request Download.
  4. Follow progress in Downloads. Once the download finishes, open its details. Show Download on the app's detail page also opens an existing download.

For a US app, choose US and a US account; for a Japanese app, choose JP and a Japanese account. Search results and download availability still depend on whether the app is offered in that country.

If a free app needs a license, StoreDuo attempts to acquire its free license from Apple. Paid apps require the selected Apple ID to already own a purchase license. StoreDuo does not bypass payment, and its membership does not replace the app purchase. If Apple asks you to complete account details or accept terms, follow Apple's instructions first.

Step 4: Connect and trust your iPhone or iPad

  1. Connect the device to your Mac with a data cable, unlock it, and keep it connected.
  2. When the device asks whether to trust this computer, tap Trust and enter the device passcode if requested. Only trust a computer you control.
  3. In the download's details in StoreDuo, select your device in the Install section. If it needs pairing, complete trust on the phone, then click Refresh Devices.

If no trust prompt appears, reconnect the cable while the device is unlocked. If needed, select the device in Finder and follow its trust prompt. See Apple's computer-trust instructions. A device already discoverable wirelessly can use that connection; return to a cable if connectivity is unreliable.

Step 5: Install, then confirm the app opens on your phone

  1. Confirm the download is complete, the selected device is correct and pairing is finished. Click Install.
  2. Wait for StoreDuo to transfer and install the app. Keep the device connected and avoid starting another installation on that device at the same time.
  3. Find the app on your iPhone or iPad and open it. If the system or app requests account verification, follow the prompt and confirm that the account has the required app license.
  4. Check that you can access the app's main functions. Confirm both installation and service availability before considering the process complete.

An app can have its own registration, phone-number, subscription, network-location or service-country requirements. StoreDuo handles downloading and device installation; it does not change those requirements. Being listed in a country's App Store does not guarantee that the app's online service works from your location.

Step 6: Install future updates

  1. Reconnect and unlock your device, then open Device Apps in StoreDuo.
  2. Select the device and store country, then click Check Updates.
  3. Select the apps you want to update. Choose a licensed Apple ID under Download Account, then click the Download and Install button.
  4. Wait for downloading, installation and the device version check to finish. Open the updated app on your phone to confirm it works.

Check and update apps from different countries separately. For paid apps, continue using an account that owns the purchase license. Updates require active StoreDuo membership and a working Apple session. Removal from the store, country availability or compatibility changes may prevent access to a later version.

Troubleshoot the step that failed

The app or country is missing from Search

Check that you have successfully added an Apple ID for the country, then verify the selected country, iPhone or iPad platform, and app name. Available countries come from signed-in accounts. The app may have been removed or may not be offered in that country; trying different search terms cannot resolve a listing restriction.

The app appears, but will not download

Identify whether the message concerns membership, Apple sign-in or an app license. For membership, check your StoreDuo account and plan. For a code or expired session, return to Accounts and complete authentication. For paid-app licensing, check the selected Apple ID's purchases. Also check your Mac's network and storage before retrying.

The device is missing, or Install is unavailable

Check that the cable carries data and the device is unlocked and trusts this Mac, then click Refresh Devices. Confirm the app has finished downloading and that no other operation is using the device. If discovery still fails, check whether Finder can see the device and follow Apple's trust instructions.

Installation fails, or the app's service remains unavailable

Keep the error shown in StoreDuo and check the app's minimum system requirement, device storage and connection. If the app opens but reports that its service is unavailable in your country, check the developer's service-availability information. Reinstalling generally does not change service-country restrictions.

Account security and support

Apple ID credentials are stored in this Mac's local Keychain and used to authenticate with Apple; App Store apps download from Apple. StoreDuo sign-in, membership checks and payment also use their respective account and payment services. See the privacy policy for how each type of data is handled.

For help, use our official contact details and include your StoreDuo version, macOS and iOS or iPadOS versions, the failed step and the error message. Hide account and personal information in screenshots. Do not send passwords or verification codes.

Return to StoreDuo and check your target country and app for free before deciding whether to purchase membership for downloading.
